Ray Lewis Just Sacked Logic
Yesterday Ray Lewis claimed that if the NFL shuts down, the crime rate will go up because people will be in despair that they can't watch their game. His comments went on to reveal that he feels like people live through the lives of the football players and they would go crazy and do horrible things if they were no longer able to do this. Sooo...you should probably hide yo kids, and hide yo wife... because you can't watch Ray Lewis, so you'll probably see the crime rate sky rocket.

Why Butler Lost
I will now explain why Butler lost in their SECOND NCAA Championship appearance in two years. There are 5 reasons in my estimation.
1: Shelvin Mack choked.
2: Matt Howard failed.
3: Gordan Hayward never showed up.
4: Willie Veasly tanked.
5: Ronald Norad was awful.
...and those are my 5 main points.

The Superbowl and why Church should be more like it.
As I informed all my passionate blog readers (Who am I kidding. There are 3 of you. Joni, Greg, and Amber. My mom doesn't even read this blog!) a few blogs ago, I would be blogging about the Superbowl. Now, you don't have to be a sports lover to enjoy the Superbowl, and you don't need to know a thing about sports to enjoy this blog post either. This is about something else all together.
I recently (last month) heard a fellow lamenting the fact that millions of people go out of their mind crazy about the Superbowl each year and for one Sunday a year, they get into it. There are parties, people come together to cheer for opposing teams, there is food, great commercials, and it is a generally festive occasion. I tried to logically think about the reasons the Superbowl would inspire such a robust following and why most Churches in the United States are usually met with very lackluster results on Sunday mornings. Now it all makes sense.
Each year the National Football League invests millions, perhaps billions of dollars into this one event. People pay between $2,200 -$6,900 for a ticket (http://www.gotickets.com/sports/nfl/super_bowl.php). Commercial air time for this event is the most expensive airtime that can be purchased each year. As a result, companies put out their most expensive and or best advertisements of the year during this event. Because of the massive numbers of people watching, the NFL can book pretty much any band it wants because no musician in their right mind would pass up the opportunity to play for that large an audience. The teams that are actually playing the game? Oddly, it doesn't really matter. I mean, don't get me wrong here, they are the best the NFL has in that given year. However, never once have I been asked, "Are you going to watch the Superbowl this year" , and my response been, "No, I don't really care for either team." The teams are irrelevant. The SUPERBOWL, is the key here.
To put my point more succinctly, the Superbowl is awesome because people role out the best and brightest of their creative genius, people spare no expense in creating the best image they can, the football league puts out the best teams they possibly can, and it is an event that brings people together in support of a common theme, the Superbowl.
Now if we replace the term Superbowl, with Church, wouldn't this make a world of difference on Sunday morning?! If we gave our very best creativity and genius each week in worship to God. If we spared no expense in our attempts to reach out to those that are far from Christ, what would happen? What if we endeavored to give our very best abilities back to God as an act of worship on Sunday? If the musicians on stage had the mentality that this is the ONE day they can't afford to give a mediocre effort, would that change the way we worshiped?
I am not saying that Church should be reduced to a sporting event or a form of entertainment. Far from that! I am espousing the idea that Church should be so huge and important to us that we cannot afford to give it anything but our best. Jesus Christ DIED for our sin so that we could be redeemed from our selves! It just seems silly to me that Sunday morning roles around and we view it as a chance to "Go to Church." The Sunday Worship Experience should be the part of the week that gets our focus, our passion, our creativity, and our emotion. I think it is maybe time for us as a generation of Christ followers to start giving God our best and stop giving him whats left.
Now how cool is Church going to be when we are all giving it our best!?

The Official Laws that Govern Sport-hood (OLGS)
During my world travels, it has come to my attention, that our world, does not have a good workable set of guidelines that determine what is a sport and what is not. It is my hope that each of you will be able to better understand the sports world in a more rich and easily graspable way after having read this. These rules are a result of extensive deliberation and collaboration with Douglas Rueff (Parkville, MO), Donald Douds (Beaver, PA), and Matthew C. Binko (Miami, FL). It is important to note that the bulk of the math and flow charting was done by Doug Rueff. He broke this thing down Barney style. Mad props to him.
There are 4 determining factors for determining weather or not a given activity can be considered a sport. They are exact. They are final. They are known as "The Official Laws that Govern Sport-hood" or "The OLGS" (Pronounced OLGS).
To be a sport, an activity must:
1: Have an objective standard to determine the outcome - EG: A basketball must go through a hoop to get points. In an activity such as Gymnastics, contestants are scored on style and performance. Since the scoring is subjected to the judges opinion, it is ruled, NOT a sport. (Cheer leading, Ice Dancing, and Marching Bands all fall into this demographic)
2: Prove athletic prowess over another human being - EG: Your athletic skill must be greater than that off your opponent to win. We determine whether or not this is happening by this criteria - If an increase in physical fitness most always results in an increase in your ability to win the event. So, if Joe Loses 30 pounds, will he have a greater capacity to be good at the event? This law rules out events like Darts, Bowling, Bass fishing, Hunting, Curling, and Horseshoes. These events all take skill, but one could increase physical fitness without experiencing an increase in their ability to be good at these events. Therefore, they are NOT sports. (Golf may fit in this category, but it is a pretty close call.)
3: Have a widely accepted set of rules - EG: These rules must be adhered to to determine sport hood. Now, this law does not imply that the laws must be followed to the letter, but rather the spirit of the law must be followed. For example, the basic rule of Soccer is that the ball must go across the line and into the goal. to score a point. The size of the field, offsides, and proper throw-ins are important, but not at the heart of the sport. Therefore, playing HORSE with a basketball and hoop can not be a sport since it doesn't follow the spirit of the game. The spirit being, ball through the hoop means points. It changes the para-dime and is no longer a sport. This rule destroys Paintball and other ad hoc events. These are NOT sports.
4: Not require the use of electricity - EG: Any event that requires the use of electricity to perform the event, is not a sport. Now, a sport may USE electricity, but must not require it. For example, Fencing is aided by the use of electronic sensors and basketball often uses light up score boards, but each of these are able to function without them. NASCAR requires the use of electricity to start the cars and is therefore NOT a sport. This law also rules out competitive DDR and Guitar Hero (As do several other rules).
I will now provide a list of Sports and NON sports. This list is in NO WAY all conclusive. You must apply the OLGS to determine Sport-hood.
